Do senior faculty members produce fewer research publications than their younger colleagues? Evidence from Ph.D. granting institutions in the United States

Abstract The aging of the professoriate throughout end twentieth century and early years 2000?s (both before after mandatory retirement in United States, ca. 1994) has become a source concern for some scholars research administrators, who posit that “greying” academy results lower activity decline scientific advancement. Some published opinions concur senior scholars’ programs do not keep pace with those their younger colleagues, but little quantitative evidence been presented to evaluate claim.
